AI voice assistant for your business: answer every call in Hindi and English
How an AI voice assistant picks up your calls, books appointments and sends you a summary, what it can't do, and what it costs in India.
You are with a customer, driving, or it's 9 pm, and the phone rings. You can't pick up. The caller doesn't leave a voicemail. They call the next clinic, coaching centre or broker on Google instead.
An AI voice assistant picks up that call for you. It answers in Hindi or English, tells the caller what they need to know, books the appointment, and sends you a summary on WhatsApp. Here is how it works, what it can and can't do, and what it costs in India.
What an AI voice assistant actually does
It is not the old "press 1 for sales" menu. The caller talks normally, and the AI understands and replies in a natural voice.
A typical call:
Caller: Hello, kal shaam ko doctor available hain kya?
AI: Ji, kal shaam 5 se 8 baje tak OPD hai. 6:30 ka slot khaali hai. Aapka naam bata dijiye, main book kar deti hoon.
Caller: Rahul Sharma.
AI: Done, Rahul ji. Kal shaam 6:30 baje ka appointment book ho gaya hai. Aapko WhatsApp par confirmation aa jayega.
After the call, you get a message like "New appointment: Rahul Sharma, tomorrow 6:30 pm, first visit, fever for 3 days", along with the recording and transcript.
What it can handle:
- Answer common questions: timings, location, fees, services, documents needed.
- Book, reschedule or cancel appointments in your calendar or booking sheet.
- Qualify leads: ask what the caller needs, their budget and timeline, and save it as a lead.
- Transfer to you when the caller asks for a person, or when it's urgent.
- Speak Hindi, English or Hinglish, switching when the caller does.
Where it helps the most
- Clinics and diagnostic centres: appointment booking, report timings, doctor availability.
- Coaching centres and schools: admission enquiries, batch timings, fee questions.
- Real estate: first questions on a listing (price, location, size), then a site-visit booking.
- Salons, gyms and service businesses: bookings and price questions.
- Any business that runs ads: ad leads call at all hours, and the first business to answer usually wins. (Our lost customers calculator shows what missed calls cost you.)
How it works behind the scenes
- A phone number. You get a number for the assistant, or keep your existing number and forward the calls you can't pick up (busy or no answer) to it. Call forwarding is a simple setting on any mobile phone.
- Listening. Speech-to-text turns the caller's words into text, in real time, including Hindi and Indian English accents.
- Thinking. An AI model, trained on your business details, decides what to say: prices, timings, policies and what it should never promise.
- Speaking. Text-to-speech replies in a natural Indian voice, usually in under a second.
- Action. It books the slot, saves the lead and sends you the summary.
What it can't (and shouldn't) do
- It is not a doctor, lawyer or financial advisor. For anything that needs judgement, it takes a message or transfers the call.
- It doesn't replace you. It handles the first call, the routine questions and the bookings, so your time goes to the conversations that need you.
- It should say it's an AI if asked. Callers appreciate honesty, and it avoids trust problems later.
A note on outbound marketing calls
Many owners ask: can the AI also call people to sell? It can call people who asked to be called: someone who filled your form and ticked "call me", a lead following up on a quote, or an existing customer about an appointment.
Calling strangers from a purchased list is different. Under TRAI's telemarketing rules, promotional calls must go through registered telemarketers and series numbers, and must respect the Do Not Disturb registry. Ordinary numbers that make bulk promotional calls can be blocked and penalised. So start with inbound calls and opted-in leads, which convert far better anyway.
What it costs in India
There are two parts:
- Setup (one-time): writing the assistant's script and knowledge, connecting the phone number and calendar, testing with real calls.
- Monthly: the phone line, call minutes (speech, AI and voice together usually come to a few rupees per minute), hosting and updates.
At Aimerger, the AI Voice Assistant starts at ₹39,999 setup + ₹4,999/month, including 300 call minutes a month and a phone number. Extra minutes are ₹9 each. Most businesses are live in 2–3 weeks. See every service in our price menu (PDF).
Compare that with a part-time receptionist, who costs more every month and still can't answer at 10 pm or on Sunday.
Is it right for you? A quick check
An AI voice assistant pays off if two or more of these are true:
- you miss calls every week because you're busy or it's after hours;
- most calls ask the same 5–10 questions;
- you take bookings or appointments by phone;
- you run ads or get leads from Google, and speed matters.
If most of your customers prefer WhatsApp, start with a WhatsApp AI chatbot instead. Many businesses use both, with the same knowledge behind them.
